We are different. The APPGA is a new concept in that not only are we supporting groomers throughout the United States, but their clients, pet owners, as well.
Educational Connection. We do not have a certification program; we will promote regional grooming associations and licensed, accredited schools. Education is extremely important in the grooming industry and we want to help groomers locate these opportunities.
Benefits. One of the biggest concerns with groomers is not having benefits. Insurance is expensive in this country and many small businesses just cannot afford it. Our goal is to find companies who will offer our members insurance; such as medical, dental, and disability.
Licensing. Groomer licensing has been active in several state legislatures. The APPGA will be tracking bills in all states and groomers will have access to this information on our website. We will provide groomers with information on how they can contact their Congressmen to defeat, defend or amend a bill.
Registration. We will have a groomer registry where clients can find you. There will be a groomer portal where members can post their business information, training, certifications, etc.
Pet Owners, our clients. In regard to clients, social media has played a role in demonizing our industry when accidents occur. The APPGA wants to connect with pet owners by having a special portal for them. There, we can provide educational materials to explain the how’s and why’s. We see it all the time; pet owners see something that they misinterpret. If we can provide them with basic knowledge and promote transparency, it will help to alleviate their fears. In that light, we do expect all our members to follow the APPGA Code of Ethics.
Chapters. There’s strength in numbers. Along with our national presence, State chapters will evolve. We will have the numbers to provide the best pricing for benefits, but also have the voice to speak in legislative matters.
United. Just like our great states, camaraderie is a must for our industry. For when we work together, when we support each other, when we help each other, our industry is strong!
